Gia Abucejo is an interdisciplinary artist, arts worker, and researcher working primarily across film & video, installation, and text. her practice harnesses digital processes and enchantments to inform, empower, and reshape presiding narratives. she has created works that have exhibited nationally & internationally in galleries, festivals, and performance spaces. her first video work, Shield Ambiance, was awarded "Best Imaginative Transformation: Exceptional Storytelling in Experimental Video" at the 2023 Feminist Border Arts Film Festival.
she is a current Scholar @ Silver Eye, where she is cultivating an array of gallery and nonprofit management skills as well as ideating, curating, and facilitating community-centered arts events like Picture Mixer and an upcoming pop-up exhibition/zine workshop.
a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, Gia recently developed an art-scholarship project, crystals and light waves, linking pearls to anti colonial collection practices and institutional dialogue under the Chancellor's Undergraduate Research Fellowship, supported by the Frederick Honors College. It was presented at the 2025 National Conference for Undergraduate Research.
she has worked as an artist-in-residence with the university's physics & astronomy department, the projection designer for an original dance-theater project, Lost on a Loom, and an arts management and media intern at the Nightlight Cinema in her hometown of Akron, Ohio.
she is presently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
