Gia Abucejo is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily across moving image and text. Operating at the intersection of digital nativity and Filipino diaspora, she works within an archipelagic imagination, often considering its material and virtual artifacts.
She has made works that have exhibited nationally & internationally in galleries, festivals, and performance spaces including Millennium Film Workshop and Mattress Factory contemporary art museum. Her first video work, Shield Ambiance, was awarded "Best Imaginative Transformation: Exceptional Storytelling in Experimental Video" at the 2023 Feminist Border Arts Film Festival.
Gia is based in New York City, where she is a fellow at Art on the Block NYC. She is currently developing an iterative expanded cinema and performance piece alongside collaborators, as well as independent film work and projection design.
