Gia Abucejo is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily across moving image and text. Operating at the intersection of digital nativity and Filipino diaspora, she works within an archipelagic imagination, often considering its material and virtual artifacts.
She has created films, animations, and video installations exhibited nationally and internationally at galleries and festivals, including Millennium Film Workshop and Mattress Factory. She also creates projection design for live performance, collaborating with theater artists at Kelly Strayhorn Theater, SoMad, and CAVE.
Gia is based in New York City, where she is a fellow at Art on the Block NYC. She is currently exploring new modes of storytelling and making up excuses to collaborate more with her father.
